Adjustment wise was wondering how I can make the upper door frame fit better,
Is it easyer to fill the gap in with more door seal (draft excluder tape)
or
Can the frame be "made to fit" by bending the frame or fitting spacers
TIA

Re: Door beam!!
Having done both sides now, do not bend the frame!!!!! It will stop the window going up and down freely. You can fit more spacers under the door hinge bracket to tilt it in, but not too many as this is just a little adjustment to allow the door shell to be moved around enough.
Basically the door beam is in a fixed (ish) position (not withstanding the spacers under the hinge bracket) to make the door catch work .
The window frame is bolted to the beam using washers between the frame and beam to set the angle to make it fit to the correct angle.
The shell is then bolted up tight at the correct angle.
If you can't get the whole frame and door shell to fit tight enough, but they are at the right angle to the seal - ie the same size gap all around, you need to get the catch to pull the door further in.
I found by taking off the striker plate and turning it upside down the door is pulled in a lot more. This is probably because of wear on the striker plate where it has been used. (remove the rear speaker to catch the bolt plate which the striker plate bolts to - it isn't captive)
Thsi is how I understand it but others may have a different way.

Re: Door beam!!
thanks Ted, I know when I had the drivers door beam replaced the window frame is quite rotten below the exposed part so might prove a difficult job, probably find the frame disintegrate if I play with it too much, ooer! Comes with age!
Wonder when the alu frames will be available it Lotus Bits...
