I have been around all the usual places and there are quite a few about and at competative prices.
As I said, I'm after an Excel that's as near factory spec as poss, with traceable history. (i.e. A Lotus Excel......not a kit car......oops, no offence meant). So I was looking to see if anyone had something (or knew about) one tucked away somewhere.
I have seen the Lotusbits website/company, and I'm sure I will be using their services in the future. can anyone provide honest feedback about them (please remember this is an open website).
How much are you looking to spend

Thanks for responces -
No, I am not trying to offend, by using the expression "kit car". Or in fact down grade kit cars. They can be fantastic cars.
Back in the 80's I got to know, through Club Lotus, ex directors & engineers of Lotus and their views about changing the spec of the cars. So all I'm trying to say is that for me I love or hate cars for what they are and that's the type of Excel I'm now looking for. If I wanted the Excel to be something else, I would go and buy another type of car which fitted that spec.
Pleased to see though that even after 20/30 years, that spark can still light a few fires.
Peter,
"What do I want to spend?" - If the car had been right I would of bought a F355 recently. So, not trying to be snobby here, but if the car is what I want then the price can be decided afterwards. It depends on the quality (for my view) of the car.
Regards

Flippin 'eck, in 5 posts you've managed to raise a few peoples hackles already here without rubbing peoples noses in how much money you have. Who cares if you can afford a Ferrari or not? When the best Excels in the world can be had between 6 and 10 grand (or rather less than some 2nd hand Fiestas) it's rather tactless to mention it.
There are normally plenty of Excels for sale, but not so much at the moment due to the time of year, so why not just get stuck into the classifieds like everyone else? I get the feeling you are angling with foggy descriptions of your buying parameters expecting everyone to come out of the woodwork and fall at your feet. You subtly mention "competetive prices" so clearly price is an issue, if so I wouldn't bother casting around on owners clubs/forums as the hardcore enthusiasts on these places invariably place a real, occasionally inflated, value on their cars. Want the best? get on here. Want cheap? get on Ebay. Want the best of both? get in the queue.

Gerald.....................See Texas' reply................Not a four seater by any means never mind a 2+2
And well said Simpatico.............
If money is no object, buy a cheap one and rebuild it............it can then be original (as it is possible yo be) and saved from the scrap heap.
I have never seen a reaction like that on here................I am most impressed with your abibilty

(excuse the spelling)
