I've glued the new trim on using the PU Adhesive And Sealant supplied by SJ Sportscars. It says on the tube that it has a very low instant grab and that's certainly true. It's also pretty messy stuff to remove from places it's not wanted even though I was very careful in applying it.

It's now occurred to me that black silicone sealant probably would have done the job with the bonus of having higher intsant grab, being easier to work with and giving the option of removing the trim without leaving a trace on the bodywork. I'm going to use ordinary black silicone to attach the two door trims to see how it compares.

Any update on using the black silicone? I am getting ready to reattach mine with black silicone as well.

The two pieces of waist line trim for the doors fitted over the aluminium carrier strip so well I ended up just clipping them in place without any sealant or adhesive.

I did use black silicone sealant to glue the ends of the waist line trim on the front and rear wings once I had trimmed them to their correct length and it seems to have worked at least as well as the PU adhesive whilst being a damn sight easier to work with. I'll see how it lasts but if it does fail it'll be easily removed.

The new trim seems more like rubber with a matt finish than the original trim. I dare say this may just be down to the original trim being over 30 years old but the original did seem more plasticy and glossy.
