Typical Shaun turns up just too late. bought black with red piping.

The original Lotus mats in my car are fixed in place by fasteners that pop onto a bracket mounted between the seat runners, so there's no chance of them moving.

As was mine!

So how are you fitting the carpet in the footwell, is it a separate piece or a single run from the rear seat (or a.n. other), and what will hold it in place? Genuinely interested in alternative solutions.

The carpet section will go up from under the seat to under the pedals and secured then glued in one piece . I will not have any mats on top of that so no chance of it catching and trapping the pedal as has happened before causing an engine rebuild.

Doesn't sound all that different to my mat, other than the glue, but glue on its own isn't brilliant in this scenario (experience talking) hence my interest in what else stops it moving, so what are you using to secure it?
My mat, by the way, is the only carpet there, it sits on the insulation, which I assume is how it left the factory.

under way with the new interior, few problems not the least was that the company I bought the leather covers didn't do the later door cards although they do the later dash, so bought a couple of the early ones and hey presto...…….moved and replaced the switches with reliable BMW one and moved the mirror controls next to the switches in the old ash tray space. the completed one has a few creases in but these should come out once they have aged a bit and the door cards are fixed to the door its self. Decided to go with my Ground Zeros rather than the Focals. 6.5s in the front and 5.25s in the back..

back seats and central column have been dyed and conditioned and have come up brilliantly..

Coming on nicely Jerry. Once you get the creases sorted it will look great. Which BMW is the switchgear from? Six throttle bodies?? - What are you not telling us?

the switch gear is from E24 BMW (the sexy ones), the switches are as cheap as chips and reliable better than the bloody stupid pyramid ones...………

should all look good especially with the black with red piping carpets...………. it coudnt look any worse...…..

the TBs are for one of Marks projects, another BMW I think.....

There are techniques to shrink the leather to remove wrinkles with hot air guns, hair dryers, steamers, hot wet towels etc
