To all concerned with the Excel stand at Donnington.

Please accept my apologies but I have been unable to progress further with this due to overwhelming Personal commitments.

When I last spoke to Alan at Club Lotus he seemed very keen for the stand to be included, although I'm not sure if its still possible at this late stage due to (my) lack of contact.

I'll contact Alan today and see if its still possible.

Ok good news!

I've been in touch with Alan at Club Lotus and we've still got a slot if we want it. :D

It's going to be a busy one this year apparently, 50th anniversary of the Elite and Lotus 7, and Lotus Cars are involved as well, so space is tight.

We can definatly have two cars, hopefully three on the stand, and anything else we can fit in between.

I need to confirm details with Alan so need to know which cars etc we're going for. Any suggestions/volunteers?

As I aid before, all cars will need to be in situ on friday evening and remain until after 4pm on sunday.

Mick

Hi Mick, Sorry to hear you are very tied up at the moment. Could you find out please if the stand will have poster boards or other facilities to present information? Is anyone interested in putting together a brief overview of history (with due reference to sources such as Mike's excellent site), support networks (including lotusexcel.net!) and so forth? If Alan's car will be lonely on the stand I am happy to leave mine, though I think Fred's newly re-trimmed Excel will turn a lot more heads 8) ! Thanks,
Chris

Chris,

An overveiw of information/history would be great if someone could take this on board (was that an offer Chris :?: :) ).

As far as information boards go, I believe we have to supply all items ourselves, but I will confirm this. Can anyone help here :?:

Freds car :?: who is this, I'll drop him a PM.

I'll pencil your car in as well Chris, thanks for the offer.

a thought - if someone could provide a screen, I can probably bring a projector and laptop(s) to run videos, rolling presentations etc.

amarshall thats great.

I might be able to get hold of a screen if nobody comes forward, I'll have to 'borrow' it for the weekend.

I'm going to contact Mike @lotusbits to see if I can print some info from his site to place on the stand/cars on the day, he's not in the office at the moment.

Cars penciled in so far:-

Alan-Celebration Model (subject to confirmation)
Chris-SE (subject to confirmation)

Whats the feeling on trying to get an early Eclat on the day, same blood line, showing the development of the model :?: If so I'll post on the other Excel forum for an Eclat, unless someone knows a willing owner.

Eclat, or Eclat Excel (ie the narrow body). I have the latter. Certainly not showroom but pretty good for its' age and largely original.

Might give me an incentive to brave the weather and get that new suspension installed.

83Excel, that'll do nicely, thanks very much.

The 3 cars:- (all subject to confirmation)

83 Excel-Eclat Excel
Alan- Celebration Excel
Chris- Excel SE

Does this sound Ok to everyone :?:

Just need to arrange some material for the stand now.

If anyone has got anything they feel would be useful/interesting let me know.

Thanks to all contributing so far.

Mick

I have got a (domestic) screen approx. 40" square.
It is floor standing rather than on a stand but could be on a table or hanging possibly.
I can bring it if it is of use.

Hi Mick. Fred is Fred Bassett, also known as G... He has a rather nice Excel and an even nicer Esprit! I know he is pretty busy at the moment so he may not be aware that this thread is live again, and I don't know if he can make the Donnington Show, but it is worth asking.
I'll put some background information together (with sources clearly identified/acknowledged) and circulate to any interested parties for peer review. I'll ask at work about poster boards as we might well have some stands and boards in a cupboard somewhere  . Cheers, Chris

Alan,

Bring the screen mate, we may have to use it instead of the one I've got depending on space available.

Chris,

The poster boards would be great, plus all the info/material you can put together.

If we gather as much material as possible we can decide what to display on the day or even swap it around over the weekend.

I'll post tommorrow with a summary of cars/material being supplied and by whom. Could all involved confirm there invovment ASAP so that we know where we stand.

Thanks all

Mick
