Misc parts wanted 87 SE

Post by gusexcel »

So as an 87 SE, I believe the car should have the lozenge 'Wickens' badges. I don't plan on putting them on, just if they are original, I ought to have them

3 total, nose and each B pillar.

It think the B pillar trims are different also as the badge shape is different

All should be in good visual shape, but need not be perfect

I would like to find the mechanical parts for the central door locking, I will just buy a kit for electronics, but need the actuators and whatever goes in the doors

actuators should be functional

Could use a LHD, left mirror. with flat glass

Of course both mirror covers are cracked, but I think that is what it is.....

Not in any rush,

I am in the US, so be willing to ship

Thanks!

Here is a link to a manual rover SD1 mirror which I believe is the source for your car. It is not electric. He also has the other side. They are unicorn poo to find!!

Are you sure your door actuators are shot? Or are they just not set up?

Door Actuators are common parts try VW. You may need to swap connector but other than that good to go. Example.

He has still got the badge, its near mint condition but isnt sure if he wants to sell as he is not sure if he will find a replacement "if" he ever wanted to refit it to his car.
I will keep on at him! What sort of price are you thinking of paying for a nose badge?

Left hand mirrors WERE common as muck when I was selling them off for 30 pound each.
Right hand side from in the cab due to being a uk car and drive on the left.... Unicorn poo.

I still have one left hand side left over when I was digging around last week. I kept one back for a project.
It's brand new, electric and with connectors.
I could be persuaded....

US is no issue. Furthest I have posted so far is New Zealand

Also with reference to the wickens badge (which I love and think looks better than the boring round one  ).
If it is an 87 it should probably be black and gold Christmas pudding shape.
85-86 had a few cars with Wickens Green and gold pudding(unlikely to be yours though).

Another indicator as for ACTUAL year of manufacture is check the diff. If it has a boot support from the diff, it is an 87. Export cars are often manufactured earlier and given a later plate.

I'm not actually that concerned if the color is 100 percent correct, as I probably won't put the badges on, but maybe ........I guess all three the same would be good.

I would think LHD cars being so low production would have been ordered special, no?

I do have BRAND NEW NOS 85-86 green and gold wickens badges. Might have 3 left.

If it is green and gold, also means it is not an 87. It is an earlier produced car sold off as a later reg one.

Have you looked here?

Fueltheburn has mentioned a LHS mirror and badges available. Have you spoken with him?
