Yep. Jinxed it.
Came down this morning and lights were up .
Didn't go down until turned ignition key to position 2.
A thought. Are the electrics on these cars as susceptible to battery voltage as the complex systems on modern cars.? On my Xk8, all sorts of strange things started happening to alarm system and fault lights, despite battery being well up to the job of turning the V8 over!! New battery and all good. It a common recognised issue and not limited to Jags I believe.
Asking because when I tried starting the car this morning, battery is struggling.

Re: Ghostly goings on!
Further piece of evidence maybe pointing at battery condition.
Cars been on trickle charge all morning. When first put on charge, lights were up. I've not been near car all morning, and now they are down!!
Not saying any more, cos last time it jinxed it

You may have a point, i wonder if it is a way of telling you the battery is getting low and needs starting or charging? it does sound utter twaddle........but who knows.

Re: Ghostly goings on!
Bad earth, too much resistance somewhere, battery possibly not getting enough charge because of it (from alternator).
Trickle charger did charge correctly though as not subject to bad earth. Once battery charged, it's enough to overcome the resistance.
Had a BMW once that randomly turned things off as it was too clever and thought the battery was duff. No clever electronics on the Excel though.
Just my thoughts, could of course be utter rubbish...

Re: Ghostly goings on!
Wish I could say the same about mine.
Generally they are down, but occasionally come up. Sometimes they even go back down after spending a few hours being up. Last week they were down. I got in car, turned on engine.... And up they popped.. Then went straight back down. Totally random. Bad earth somewhere I think.
Or maybe they are just preparing me for the vacuum operated ones on my Elite.

Re: Ghostly goings on!
Mine started doing this earlier on in the week. Lights pop up when ignition is switched off. If I remove fuse 5 (radio switched live) it no longer does it.

Interesting. I understand from my cars PO that the headlights behaved fine whilst no radio was fitted, but started playing up as soon as one was fitted.
