Elite vin plate

Post by theelanman »

Anyone know where I could get a new vin plate from?......
Mine still has the original fitted but it's been polished and the original black print has gone......
So my vin plate has the stamped numbers and engraved colour code......and nothing else.....
As I'm shipping the engine bay ready for paint I wondered about replacing it When I put everything back together.....
And help much appreciated
Thanks
G

SJ Sports cars have these. I got one just last weekend.
They look identical, but the listed Lubricants are in a different order to my original plate. But then again, they are different again on photo in this thread. - All have the correct spelling of Lubricant though.

Similar topic. Anyone know where I can get an ECE compliance label from? It's Lotus specific, but not model specific, so I assume was on all models of this era.

part No SJ036A0002
Enter it in the search box on SJ's web site and you can find a photo which exactly replicates what I received.

This is not the same as mine.......
I have one in the previous pic with the extra box at the top for
"ALT UNIT No"........
It's from the type 36 elan......so I'm guessing if it's right for your car ...then yours is very early and was probably using up the last of these.......as was typical with lotus........

Correct. My car is very early. The VIN plate was stamped up in March 74, so agree they were using up old stock.
