Don't think so.......
There are pictures of blue cars.......but I still don't know which blue is which......
There's a pic which says standard blue.....but I think it's an Essex car......and also what is standard blue as this was not what it was called........
There is a list of paint codes......but I can't see a pic with the list paint code showing what the car is.........
I'm just very confused.......I think it's oxford blue....but I can't be sure
Sorry if I'm confused.......
Thanks
G

Hi Gareth.
To answer directly your questions, I understand you want to establish the blue for a 1978 blue Elite.
I had a blue 1976 Elite and the colour was similar to that shown in this topic on the car LCL 852V and the Elite shown in the forum 2018 calendar for June provided by HawaiisO, who probably will have an original photograph.
The only photograph of my own car is too dark (and old) to be any reference.
The paint codes in the Elite/Eclat Manual (August 1976) shows four colours and the reference number for the colour component is as an example AO7686025V for Signal Red.
The Angus post on this topic (at this moment the reference is not available) refers to Oxford Blue and
gives a reference number similar to the other four colours which your paint supplier may recognise.
Otherwise you could try using the Signal Red reference and ask the paint supplier for a near equivalent
and that might give the name Oxford Blue.
If all that fails perhaps Ollie Winterbottom can tell you.

Best Xmas wishes Dave the cog.

Time has moved on in all things which includes matching car paint colour without needing a code. A decent paint shop will have access to a spectrophometer (I think that's correct spelling?). The colour match will be near perfect to the human eye although it is important to understand that the conditions it's applied in can have an effect. Best not to try it on the drive and maybe better to take it to a body shop.

This will shock 1 or 2 members.

Having seen the recently painted Mediterranean Blue Excel at the NEC - it is rather nice. When new!

Southern poofter and Northern monkey sunshine tends to blemish it a little. Best kept it in clean central England sunshine air.

Haweiios

Clean air. Central England. NEC as in Meriden.

You obviously refer to Birmingham!
