Sticky Window

Post by pistolpete »

SO my passenger door has a very sticky window and doesn't work . I have taken the motor out and the glass just stays up. Would this suggest the window frame is knackered or could it just be a strip down. If it needs replacing whats the current situation

Cheers Pete

If the fixing points to the door beam are in good condition, its likely the frames will be OK all round. One thing to check is that the frame hasn't rusted behind the window channel as this causes it to bulge and pinch the glass.
The window channel can also be lubricated with a bit of silicone spray which can help the glas slide more easily.

Another thing to check is the window frame to door frame bolts and washers.
First remove the lift motor and then by hand see if the glass will easily slide up and down.
On mine, at first the glass stuck about half way down.
After relaxing the bolts the glass went up and down easily. Then it was just a case of placing the correct number of washers between the window frame and door frame before tightening the bolts, making sure the glass still went up and down easily. Then reconnected the lift motor.
