Early dash instruments and pod removal

Post by Johnwindwood »

Guys
I need to remove the instrument pack and its pod surround from our early car.
I can see the poppers that hold the fascia on-how else is the instrument pack held, and once out, how do I remove the dash pod surrounding it?
(Not looking to remove the whole dash-yet.....

Cheers
Kind regards

John

Hi John, Ive had the dash panel and pod out several times from my 84 car to sort out instrument lights, speedo cable and replace the radio. My experience is in my blog, try https://majcd213.blogspot.co.uk/2017/06 ... cable.html here to start with but use the search box to find other posts.
Cheers
Mike

Can you get some wd40 or plusgas down there... Longshot but heater out is a big job.

Initial plan is to remove instruments, drill hole in fan casing and try lubrication first. The motor does work but after a few secs starts to smell of burning so I'm guessing its partially seized. Must be worth trying before taking the lot out I think.
