'Curiouser and curiouser!' cried Alice (thought I would add a literary note to this intrigue).

Now that is really teasing, an image in dropbox reporting an error.

This is like a "what the butler saw" machine. We look through an aperture and get to see a small piece of something exciting.

OK - time to come clean. I've managed (with some help from the Lotus old boy network) to track down the original jigs and the man who made the frames - and who can make some new ones with a modern powder-coated finish.

The first set have now been on my car for a month and made a huge difference.

We're not going into full production until we're happy that the new frames work properly, but there is a small second test group and there is space for one more person to join. If you're interested in being part of this group and getting a pair of new frames at a slightly discounted price before the end of this month, please EMAIL me.

They'r revision "G" spec., so should fit all models from Elite S1 through to final Excels. I'm particularly interested in getting an Elite or Eclat to check them on, but won't let that be a barrier to someone who needs them for an Excel.

well I will need to fit new ones soonish... but still tied up in the motor, brake, clutch, suspn, interior and steering.....! This has come a bit early for me and a bit pricey given the bottomless pit the rest of the car has turned into... but I was wondering about the old ones...? Presumably there will be a lot of old units that might yield useful repair sections. Is anyone collecting them?

Sadly, i have to sort out some err... not minor  faults on the Eclat. So I couldn't change the frames immediately to give you feed back. I would also need a decent "how to"-description

That is great news.

Bit too early for me. I'd be looking to having them changed around March next year now.

I would be interested in a set around that price - both sides seem logical

does G spec mean that if I only need one, they might not match the original one on my car?

G spec is the latest, as the first model (Elite mk2) came along they had the A spec, then as subsequent changes were made for improvements or to fit the Excel, but still be backwards compatible*, a letter was added. So, in theory any of the earlier cars will find these suitable BUT as Angus has said earlier this needs to be checked, not every set of windows, just a sample car of each type.

* meaning, a later component should be compatible with the earlier model car, but an earlier component may not be compatible with a later model. Just like computer software....
