Window frames - price check

It's still slow progress, but there is some progress so I need to work out how viable the latest option is.

Bearing in mind that there are currently no new frames available and old frames change hands for something IRO £100-£150 how much would you really pay for a brand new powder coated frame made to the original spec.?

(also worth remembering that Esprit frames had an RRP of £227 in 2007).

In the case that no replacement frame is realistically available ... those I've seen advertised recently look pretty rough...

The rest of my car is in good nick. If I needed a new window frame then the amount I'd pay is the cost of being able to use the car, or not. This would be quite a bit!
Last I looked both window frames are fine, so I'm not in the market for an immediate replacement.

However, I'd be very 'flexible' about the cost of a window frame, should the need ever arise.

Thanks for your ongoing efforts on this. Funnily enough, I was thinking about how these window frames could be made this morning on my way to work as my passenger window is a bit sticky and I know the bottom of the frame is a bit crusty.........

P.S. - I forgot to mention that these will be the G075 pattern frames so will fit ALL Elite/Eclat/Excel.

Is a powder coated finish the best option here? The reason I ask is that when it fails or even just becomes chipped (it's relatively brittle when compared with paint) it allows water to run behind the remaining coating with disastrous consequences. It's also very difficult to touch in or repair a powder coated finish.

Personally I think powder coating is nothing more than a convenience to the manufacturer as it's less trouble to apply than a proper spray painted finish.

Interesting point. I could see if we can make it optional - powder coated or bare metal.

i do not need the frames yet, but bearing in mind the problems you have had sourcing them i would be prepared to pay 1000k . the car is promised to my son so i must keep it street legal s even if the frames are not needed in my time.

Alan - for £1million, you can have platinum plated frames and everyone else can have them free

It wouldn't take much to give the frames a coat of;epoxy primer ,and a couple of coats of satin black, (2pack) .No corosion to worry about! Nothing gets through e.p. One stop fix job done.
