Hi,
I bought adjustable dampers at SJS . There are 13 detents for hardness . what do you recommend as hardness ? For the moment , I am adjusted to 7.
also, it is difficult to place the damper in the suspension arm because of the dial setting.
In, advance, thank you for your answer.

I don't have the SJS dampers, but do have adjustable coilovers (from Lotusbits). I found that the dampers were very hard when new, but have softened a little over 2 years. I started on one of the lowest settings (2 I think) as that felt hard enough to me, and have gradually adjusted them up so they are now at 5.
I'm afraid I can't help with the fitting issue - perhaps SJS can help?

Re: hardness adjustment of the dampers
hi
If you mean the 'Protech' adjustable dampers from SJ Sportscars - I put these on our 87 Excel and used them for over two years before it was sold and think their great shocks for the money.
I can remember thinking the same as you. What setting do I start with. Fronts and backs are different settings...........
I simply rang Steve at SJ and he gave me what they click them up to...........he fits them a lot so Im sure hes right. I can also remember setting them before I fitted them. However if you fiddle you can get the adjuster just about in the right place to turn the knob.
Give Steve a call I cant remember what settings I had.
I would use them again on my S2.2 Elite when shes ready for the road.
Best regards.
DC.

Re: hardness adjustment of the dampers
Hi, I fitted protechs to my 88 se and set them to 9 on the front and 6 on the back and all feels good. As for fitting the fronts I had to locate the top of the damper first then with a jack on the lower arm locate the bottom bolt. At first I tried it the other way round and found I couldn't get enough angle on the damper because the adjuster gets in the way.
Hope this helps.

Re: hardness adjustment of the dampers
thank you for your help,
indeed , the implementation of the dampers is difficult because of the dial. I tried with the wheel oriented inward and it does not pass. Sunday I tried outward. I am the third disassembly springs. In France , we say, do and undo , it worked !
