I have wondered about the 195/55 tyre myself. I did see a Dutch registered Excel shod with them at Donington one year but didn't manage to speak to fhe owner. My only concern was whether the wheel was suited to the narrower tyre (I'm not an expert in these matters). In the end I went for the popular 205/50 alternative.

Toyo website indicates they are approved for a 7" rim.

When I bought the car it had 3 different 225/50s on it, and the were rubbing.

I replaced them with 205/55s all round - 55s recommended by Gerald at GST rather than 50s.

I have done around 9000 miles over the past 12 months, including a track day, with no issues at all.

Speedo over reads at 30mph by ~3mph and under reads at 70 by about the same amount.
