Materials:
- Hardboard plate to use as roof sections(a good idea thanks) glues easy as the material is porous.
- Headlining: From Woolies. A 3 layer liner with fabric/foam/fabric which makes it gluing better. Very cheap especially the grey one I used.
- Glue: A neopreen glue, the same type as used originally by Lotus with a high temp resistance 120°c. Hope it works we'll see in a few years....
Method:
- The glue is one of the most difficult to apply. You must get used to the mess... It must be dry on both sides before joining no correction possible afterwards.
- The roof section is big. So for applying I diluted the glue with synthetic thinner. This give you some more time.
- For 90° inner corners the Woolies lining seems to collapse a little bid. The foam is quite coarse and does not like sharp inner edges. So not pushing it too tight in the corners.
- Several times I made the mistake to stretch the fabric before cutting... Result the rest material has become to short.
- Also it is easier to cut and glue the fabric, which comes around the edges, after the front panel is glued. Here you have time to give shape by trying first.
In general I succeeded well, certainly for doing this for the first time
I'll post some pics if I have some time later..
Cheers..
