Rusted doors

Post by Elite »

I had a good laugh alone in my garage. I am dismantling the Elite to prep it for this season. I took the card out of the right door and... Against all ods for a plastic car it was full of rust. The rason I chose a frp car was to avoid the rust I have been fighting for the las 30 years in my Datsuns. Well you cannot fight rust then... But I will try. I will use Stainless steel bolts and nuts as on my boat... Every steel part is roten.

Your doors use metal door beams to provide support and side-impact intrusion protection. They all rust, but replacements are available. This a pretty common feature of most Lotus models.

Yes thanks, but I will not need to replace them on this project. There will be no metal left in those doors...
I took the rear glass out and boy is it heavy! The rear wipper is not light either! Petrol tank? Well it's a tank allright but a full size Abraham with fuel and amo! I wonder what will be the car weight at the end?
