My gear knob has just broken ! The plastic has split and the knob has come of the metal threaded sleeve. Does anyone have an unused original black with red stitching one please ?
As an aside, does anyone know what the thread is ? It isn't M12 although that's the right sort of diameter. I had thought this would be a Toyota part and so metric...unless the thread pitch is different ??????
Thanks

Re: Original gear knob wanted
Hello David,
Thread should be M12 x 1.25
The original knob is off a Sierra XR4i
I fitted one of these to my car - http://www.ebay.com/itm/RED-STITCH-SUZU ... db&vxp=mtr

Re: Original gear knob wanted
Gavin, thanks for the info.
I'm going to try and get a simple black 40mm ball knob and reuse the metal insert that was inside the original knob. This this also lower the knob which IMHO was too long.
Cheers

Re: Original gear knob wanted
Not really a "wanted" post but this is what I've used. I got a 40mm black ball knob from ebay (I actually got two just in case) for £1.85 each with free postage. I used the ones without the metal inserts as I needed to drill the knob out with a 20mm drill bit to accommodate the existing metal insert that was part of the original Lotus knob.

I glued the insert in and now it simply screws onto the lever as normal and locks with the allen screw. Looks good (IMHO) and feels very good. Also the knob is about 4 cm shorter than the original one which I prefer.
I could have tapped the new knob to the correct thread and done away with the original metal insert but decided against this as the original insert also holds the gaiter in place.
