heater fan faulty

For all those wiring gremlins we love, this is the place to discuss them.

heater fan faulty

Post by marky »

Hi Chaps,

Just bought an 87 Excel SE and this is my first post.

Have sorted out quite a few problems already but not sure what to do about the heater fan - only the two fast speeds work - the two slower speeds which I would normally want to use the majority of the time are out of action.

Has anyone had a similar problem? any suggestions for sorting this out?

many thanks

Mark.

Sounds like a failed resistor pack. Not the easiest thing to get to, unfortunately.

This thread has some suggestions : http://www.lotusexcel.net/phpbb/viewtop ... t=resistor

It would be worth getting a multimeter to check voltages and resistances at the connector before you resort to the Lotus limbo.

I'm all for that - I am assuming that is the connector behind the glove box?
