Headlamp mod...

For all those wiring gremlins we love, this is the place to discuss them.

Headlamp mod...

Post by Ozzy_UK »

Is it possible to "mod" the headlights so that the lights dont pop up when you have the sidelights on? (or alternatively turn the sidelights into running lights)?

just does my head in haveing the pods up and only the side lights on...

Also fogs dont work at the front, any wireing diagrams for those? (or where is the relay?)

cheers!
Oz.

Have a look for the threads about "dim dip" module bypass.

My pods don't come up until the full headlights are on. When turning them off, you need to turn them right off (click-click-click)to get the pods to go down

Been like that ever since I bought it. Do others' pods come up when you just switch the parkers on? That's weird!

Perhaps yours was an Export spec...not all Excels had the dim dip module from new IIRC.

Dim-dip became a legal requirement from 1st April 1987 - it didn't last long on the statute books either.

Only the later Excels will have the damn-dip module fitted  and many have had it bypassed, I'll bet.

Mine's '85 UK spec and needs 3 clicks to bring the pods up, which suits me.

So would require the dim-dip module to be legal on the date of registration.

My pods don't come up until I have clicked three times therefore can have side lights on without pods coming up. What is a pain, is, if I have my side lights on, then flash someone, the pods won't go back down until i turn the switch back 3 clicks and swith off the side lights.
Cheers, Phil
