Hi,
I am about to replace the cambelt and tensioner bearing on my 907 2 litre. Already have the belt however I am baulking at the £21.00 plus vat for the bearing. Has anyone found an alternative source for these or do I succumb to 'LOTUS' parts prices...

got mine for my 912 from mike taylor at lotus bits, being fitted my Back on Track in guildford today (anlong with a very long list of other bits!)

Changing the cambelt and tensioner bearing after two years and only a few thousand miles shows that I fully understand the consequences of a belt/bearing failure.
What I am getting at is that the bearing must be a standard part with other applications.
Just trying to save a few quid - not skimping on maintenance.
Will try GOOGLEing bearing manufacturers...

If you have time to leave the car idle, take it to a bearing traders and they should find some markings somewhere or just measure it. I saved a packet on my front bearings this way.
The belt bearing is a pretty beefy thing mind, I doubt you will make a meaningful saving over £21.

I bought one for a 912 engine from SJ Sportscars recently. It is marked ' Q3C SKF 414871A Italy M' on the outer edge. Approximate dimensions are 30mm dia x 17mm deep inner and 63mm diameter x 29mm deep outer. Happy hunting

suggest that it may be common with a Ford transit! Worth a trip to Ford dealer with the old one for comparison ?

Tried to identifiy the bearing last night but could not see any markings on the edge of the bearing.
Will visit my local bearing manufacturer (midlands based) and update you re: price.
Agree that twenty odd quid is not a great deal for a vital part but there again the car is my weekend toy and hobby. Part of the 'fun' is trying to find alternative or even better parts to keep the old gal running.

That's why I bought mine from Steve at SJ Sportscars, along with a timing belt, top balljoint, brake master cylinder seals and numerous previous purchases
