Hi All,
Recently changed the indicator stalk on my 1985 Eclat Excel due to the fixing clamp braking, since then my Hi Lo beam didn't work and now my indicators have stopped working. Initialy they were flashing very quickly as usually happens with a bad earth, I changed the relay which i found behind the trim left of the ignition. Seems to be a non standard wiring job, the green cable out of the stalk plugs in to the relay (should that connection be L or B on the relay) and then out of the relay a thin wire with an inline fuse connects to a white wire using a spade connector, the white wire is black plastic spade female that is similar to others plugged into the back of the ignition switch and is located by the ignition switch.
I have changed the relay this morning and checked the fuse - taken for granted the shop has given me the correct relay. Currently, the indicators don't flash but the bulbs come on as do the bulbs in the dash.
I've read some other relays etc are in the left side passenger footwell and A pillars - come someone tell me exactly how to get at them - under the floor in footwell or just behind the carpet on the footwell wall etc
Currently working nights so don't have time to take everything apart and discover it for myself plus I'm assuming I'm dealing with a previous fix someone has put in place. I've no owners manual yet or workshop manual.
Many thanks

Re: Indicators not flashing
Hi Ian,
Hazard lights work ok - didn't used to, needed them a couple of weeks ago and they were not working, then they came good on their own.
The only thing I can find that looks like an access cover would be the passenger wooden floorboard with rusty bolts - the carpet is glued to the footwell wall so I guess under the floorboard is the only place anything can be. I will check under there tomorrow morning after work for fuses or relays.

Re: Indicators not flashing
There are relays are behind the vertical trim panels immediately in front of both of the doors.
The panels are covered in carpet and held in with a screw or two and a couple of push-in spring clips. Hard to see the screws if they're still there as they're black/rusty - probably the same colour as the carpet.
Good luck
Bill

Re: Indicators not flashing
Hi all,
I've checked behind the A pillars trim and can only find 4 relays next to the fuse box in the drivers footwell. All relays are identical and all were suffering rusted pin on the pin furthest from the door opening closest to the pedals. I cleaned all connections but doesn't seem to have made any difference. Not to indicators or anything else thats not working correctly - dim/dip or sidelights coming on in middle switch position etc.
Switching the hazards or indicators on and none of the relay's I've found are energising. With the hazards on I can trace the realy clicking noise to a circuit board just above the Lucas wiper controller black box by the steering column. I gave it a gentle tug but it doesn't feel like its plugged in to anything - but I'm not sure about that. As previously said, my hazards stopped working then started working after a couple of weeks so I'm reluctant to pull it to hard in case I break it.
Not sure where to look next, any ideas?

Re: Indicators not flashing
If the relays had rusty pins there may be water inside the relay itself.

Re: Indicators not flashing
Thanks Bill,
apparently none of the relays by the fuse box are for the indicators, I have 3 more by the headlamp pods but neither of these are anything to do with indicators (was at LotusBits yesterday and managed to get some info on it). I've found an indicator relay on the steering colum, changed it but no difference, and I have the non standard wiring job with relay by the indicator stalk. Hazards still work, can feel the relay on the column clicking away.
Update - Replaced the new flasher unit with another new unit and indicators now work
Thanks for all the help.
