Hi

Having a poke around to try and cut down the wind noise at speed and found a couple of bits of carpet tape with what looks to be the remains of some foam behind the outer b post cover.

Anyone know what should be there and where and do i get and how do i fit replacements/

You mean that black spongy stuff??

You can use an air filter element from the aquaristics shop.
I use the air filter from an industrial PC chassis, which is absolutely the same.

To reduce wind noise, you could fit a seal in the channel of the door frame that runs around the window. See http://www.lotusexcel.net/phpbb/viewtop ... =door+seal for further information.

Can you just stuff it in with out removing the covers or do I need to invest in a pop riveter?

Thanks to the reminder. Recall seeing that thread when looking for advice when I had just started looking for a car last year. Looks like another delivery due soon.

IIRC, I just removed the single screw in the middle, opened the cover by flexing it upwards a bit and stuffed the filter in.

I noticed at the Lotus show last week, that later models have the air vents you are talking about blanked off. Is there any harm in stuffing them with something to completly block the air flow to reduce the noise?

Still not got around to this job partly as I could not fine the correct size of foam to match the bits that looked original.

However just picked up a large sheet at the garden centre sold as a root mate for the bottom of a flowerpot. Looks just the same as the remnants and about the correct thickness. Enough for two cars from a sheet at £2.99

I have some annoying wind noise after the shop had replaced my windscreen and NS triangle window.
So I have added the additional seal in the door frame channel over the weekend. It is snug tight and helped a lot, but there is still some noise (compared to before windows repair)

So on my drive to work this morning I noticed the noise is coming from somewhere around the A post.
I assume wind is coming in from the lower edge of the A post and is going from there upwards around the door frame.

Might be worth looking at the A post, too.

About blanking out the outlet vents:
I think there is a reason for adding outlet vents - if outside air is coming in - where does it go then?
cabin air is supposed to be vented from the rearside of the 'roll cage' and exit at the B post vents - I doubt that the noise is coming from these vents...
