Front Speakers
Looks like i have overworked the front speakers with CCR on last weeks blat.
Anyone changed theirs recently and can advise what will fit and if it’s an easy job, if there is such a thing.

Should be easy enough to replace. Just take the door cards off (4 screws, 3 round the edges and one in the handle - at least on post '89 that's the arrangement).
No idea about alternative units though, sorry,

My '85 SE has 4.5" front speakers in the doorcard. The Blaupunkt badged grille and speaker fasten from inside the doorcard. One of the rear (4")speakers failed last year and I found there was plenty of choice of replacements from Halfrauds, Wilco and so forth. They tried to sell me deeper speakers with an independently mounted tweeter (better quality sound
), but these won't fit unless the grille is replaced, which I preferred not to do. However, there were plenty of 'basic' speaker alternatives in the right sizes and they weren't expensive.

Re: Front Speakers
Finally got round to sorting the speaker. Couldn’t find anything to the match the original custom fittings. Originally speaker fixed by some glued tabs, which would require breaking, but then the size appears impossible to find these days. New set required but had a job finding something flush fitting and discreet, most look like something out of a comic. Ended up with JVC speakers with an Alpine grill off the display stand! Before and after photos. They stick out a little and will no doubt get the boot but they were only £20.

Re: Front Speakers
The camera flash often makes pale tan leather look like white/cream leather, and generally hides the finer scratches.
