Gliptone Liquid Leather

Post by barker_001 »

Has anyone got any experience of using Gliptone Liquid Leather Cleaner and Conditioner?

I've started using the cleaner on my sand leather interior, but found an alarming amount of colour seemed to come off on my cloth..

Is this supposed to happen? Thanks for your thoughts..

Liquid leather is fine, its the correct type of product to use as it is a separate cleaner and then conditioner. Autoglym is a combination but you can't clean (get dirt out) and condition (impregnate the leather with conditioner) at the same time.

Has your leather been coloured before?

I've used liquid leather on both my excel which is detailed in a thread here and an 85 Esprit turbo I had 11 years ago now, never had a problem with it.

excellent stuff - once you have cleaned it and put the conditioner on it brings back the lovely smell of leather

Thanks for your thoughts gents. I'm reassured to hear that people have used Gliptone successfully.

Interestingly I came across this Youtube clip where Louise from Woolies tells us that if the cleaner brings some colour off on your cloth, it has probably been treated with a water based dye previously.

I'm guessing the Woolies cleaner is not dissimilar to the Gliptone product.

Looking at the grime that was on my driver's seat, I would doubt it has ever been treated with anything, but it's not impossible I suppose.
