gearstick trim
help please,does anybody know how to remove the leather trim on the gearstick from the gearstick itself,on a 87 excel,thanks.

According to the manual, the leather trim is part of the gear lever tray, as is the leather-covered gear lever knob. To release the knob, undo the grub screw below it and then unscrew the gear knob while holding the ring at the top of the gaiter. To remove the gaiter and knob, undo the 4 screws retaining the centre tunnel tray and remove it, then undo the single screw securing the rear end of the gear lever tray and ease the tray upwards and backwards to release the velcro strips on either side and withdraw its front lip from under the radio cassette. Then lift the tray and gaiter off. Hope this helps, Chris
