Re-Trim & Head Lining

Post by Ozzy_UK »

Headline needs doing...

i have read the threads on here, but am still a little fuzzy, can anyone point me in the direction of a nice step by step guide? (ideally with pictures) :)

also which glue was it you guys got from woolies?
and is there anyone in surrey/hants who can do this for me as my time is a little short at the moment and i need it ready for my wedding in june (using the lotus as the wedding car!)

cheers!

Oz,

Have you looked at:

http://www.benani.com/articles/headlining.html

Very good guide by Chris Wright.

Hi

Have to agree about the web site by Chris Wright and it is easy to follow. I started my headlining on saturday after ordering new cloth from woolies who were excellent. Phoned on Wednesday, sent me samples on Thursday and I had the cloth and glue by friday afternoon !!!!!!.
Removal is quite straight forward but the two pieces glued to the roof on my excel had been reglued badly and was murder to remove.

I removed the rear seat and quarter trims as the old headcloth gets every where.
I purchased the high temp spray on glue but after stripping it down I may also buy the normal high temp brush on glue.

Just have to put it all back together now...

volvocad,

When you put your new headlining in would you mind taking more pictures and giving us all your thoughts on the experience = like what to do, what not to do.

I'll add them to the web page - after all the more input we have the easier it is for everyone.

Thanks,

Steve

Try
Unit 6 Canal Bridge Estate Byfleet Road, Addlestone, Surrey, KT15 3JE
Tel: 01932 845858

Decided against the work in the end, but the guy was very helpful and rates were reasonable.

When I went there he was doing full interior jobs on 2 Ferraris and a couple of bits and pieces on an Aston and his work looked really good.

decided to do this myself... have been taking pics...
when it says the old bits can get everywhere... i wasnt quite expecting it to go so... well everywhere!

old material pretty much fell apart as i touched it... was really carefull, separated it up (top part and foam part), used the top part as new templates, and the old part pretty much just filled the interior up as nice little orange bits of hardend foam...

total mess... all hoovered up now...

think im going to enjoy putting it back together :)
