While I had the Dash out - Ticking Fan

Post by davek »

Just to pass on something that's easy to do (with the dash out!) and well worth the effort. I'm in the process of refurbing the interior of my Excel and while I had the dash out I had a look into why the fan made an annoying tick-tick-tick noise, particularly noticable at low setting. The fan assembly turns out to be very easy to remove (3 bolts) and once out I found an amazing amount of leaves and other debris trapped inside. A quick couple of mins with the hoover had all the junk out and plugging the fan in for a quick try found it whisper quiet. I also replaced the foam gasket which was just crumbling with some 12mm wide black sponge strip (Woolies).

Oh well, that's one job of the list only another gazillion to go!!
