Re: Mathewsons
Agreed.
If it's a half decent restoration, it's worth into 5 figures of anyone's money.
You just don't know though without a really good inspection just what 'restoration' really means.

Re: Mathewsons
It definitley appears to be far too low an estimate.

Re: Mathewsons
It’s the colours. White works so well on an Esprit, but is not everyone’s favourite colour on an Excel. The garish red interior is nobody’s favourite & I should think every bidder will be factoring in £400 to have the wheels turned back to silver.
& the Mathewson’s estimator is perhaps thinking about the most recent Excels to go through. It’s not long since I bought one from them – a late model with all the various improvements (although it has the inferior OZ wheels). It has excellent red paintwork, black leather interior & a 2.5 LB engine & SS exhaust. It made nine something the first time it went through, & didn’t sell. I paid them eleven something for it.

Re: Mathewsons
As an owner no. But as an uniformed relative or executor of an estate probably.
Would I know how to to value / where to sell a car depending on what it was, yes.
But an elderly relative's furniture and possessions not a clue. If i had to clear a house so i could sell it to the will sorted i would just get a local auctioneers in and get rid.
No one is an expert in everything which is why, despite the proliferation of information, there are still bargains to be had.
