A -pillar paint
Hi all. Looking for info on areas of black paint that should or may be required on the interior area of the A-pillar (edited). The part which is dished where the door loom exits. Anyone with an original paint job I'm interested to know if there is black in that area. 1986 Se/SA variant.

Re: B -pillar paint
Stu - I’m confused (not hard ). The B pillar is behind the door where the roll bar is, but no wiring there. Are you talking about the shape of the mat black section that extends down toward the latch?
Or are you talking about where the loom that goes through into the front of the door exits the interior of the car near the hinge for the door beam? Where the loom exits is body coloured. The A post at the side of the windscreen does have a mat black section. This is almost completely hidden by the A post trim panel. The only bit that is seen is if you look up inside the A post cover at the lower edge and the bit where the door seal attaches. This blends with the small black strip on the A post trim flange - the bit where the screws go through.
I’ll try and find some photos and load them up when I get chance - give me a nudge if I forget.

Re: B -pillar paint
These are the areas of the A,B and C posts that are painted black. Whatever you do, do not paint the areas where the glass will be bonded to. These area MUST be kept paint free to allow correct bonding.
If you’re going for factory finish I found the area on the A pillar under the door hinge plates to be unpainted. These area MUST front half of the door beam is painted body colour. So, it seems the door beam was fitted before the car was painted.
