One other thing… when you get the engine out your very fist job should be to check the main bearing ladder for ‘+15’, this is bad news if it has, it means it is one of the 1% or so of 912 engines with 0.015” oversized outer diameter main bearings which are near impossible to buy, when I needed them last year I could not find any and the advice from nearly every lotus parts specialist was to use the block as a coffee table and find a replacement block and bearing laser (they are machined as one) however if this is the case you should get in touch with JAE in Santa Barbara California, they have saved both myself and others who had this issue (of course you will need to get the crank checked/ground first)
Of all the things I have lost I think I miss my mind the most...
