Went out for a drive the other day and the brakes just felt wooden and I was really having to put some pressure on them to slow down. If I'd needed to get close to locking up the brakes then my foot would have been in the engine bay with the amount of force needed! Did a bit of testing on the following:
- Non-return valve - working as it should
Vacuum line from servo to engine - no leaks, not collapsed
Driving with vacuum line plugged but disconnected - Brakes feel even harder to stop
Bleeding - done again using the old 2-person method
My guess is that there's a leak in the servo causing the brake feel, the sound, and the extra air being pulled into the engine when it should be a vacuum is causing it to nearly die when cold and foot on the brake.
Does this theory seem about right? If so then it's a frustrating second rebuild inside 2 years but will have to be done to get back on the road.
