Hello. I could do with replacing the anti-squeal shims on ther brake calipers.
Brakes international seem to be out of stock and don't bother answering emails.
SJ have the fronts, but want £45 for the rears.
Has anyone else found an alternative?
Thanks
Jason

Try one of the anti-squeal pastes that are available these days.

Just seen that land rover discos have the same or similar caliper advertised but not confirmed.

Hello Pete. It's not as they are squealing. It's more of a case of them falling apart.Pete Boole wrote: Thu Feb 23, 2023 21:51 Try one of the anti-squeal pastes that are available these days.

Always thought it was such a fiddly over complicated arrangement on the Excel.

Re: Brake Shims
Just searched SJ site on "Brake Shim" and top hit is A089J8076S - Shims on back of Rear Brake pad. - £15.12 inc VAT.SJ have the fronts, but want £45 for the rears.
I know postage can take a hit, but hopefully not £30 now
Looking in parts list though, I can't find that number - but then the anti squeal shim is only reference as part of a full pad spring set. Seems like a call would be needed.

Re: Brake Shims
Meant to add that neither front or rear of my car had any shims between the pad and piston.
Was not a problem before my overhaul. We'll see if they start squealing now they are free to slide and work properly

Re: Brake Shims
Is the squeal likely to be the wheel cylinder?

Re: Brake Shims
Has anyone had any luck sourcing the anti-squeal shims? There were none on my existing pads when they came off, but would like to put them on if anything is available? The links on the thread are to pad fitting kits, rather than anti-squeal shims. Thanks!

Re: Brake Shims
For anyone that is interested when I looked at EBC Brakes, which is where the front pads I was sent by SJ came from, their website clearly states on an FAQ about squeal that "Make sure your pads have noise shims, provided on all EBC pads." So separate shims unnecessary. I just need to work out whether the rear ones are the same as they did not come in an EBC box.LotusMonkey wrote: Mon Dec 16, 2024 09:26 Has anyone had any luck sourcing the anti-squeal shims?
