Two years on to the day and I'm looking to cut the shock bolts out again (damper leaked) and the sleeve and bolt are seized again.

Doing the same AVOs, but using powerflex bushes. The AVO ones are chocolate.

I have EIBACH springs from Lotusbits. They are one coil less than AVO ones and 3 in instead of 2.5. OEM is 3.25 if I recall.

I was going coil bound on the AVOs so LB made some changes.

The shocks are 8 years old. The 2 year swap is due to a leak and not that they lasted 2 years.

Found a crack at the rear upper seat belt anchor point..



The bracket in the inner wing was shot too!



Repair to follow.

That'll take some effort to repair. I think even Neil might be accepting defeat on that one.

Ha. Neil recognises that area! Will check for a crack, but I had to remove the cover you can see on the right for access to the seam where it needed repairs down the side. Haven't noticed the plate though, but we get mild rust around here.....

Had some miserable lacquer peel on the door to roof trim panel and with Hinckley BID meet looming needed to do a temporary fix to gain that 20 metre wow shot.



Reasonable result to hide the peel but dont look too close.

Likewise, Have had a couple of localised infestations of lacquer peel that I'm attending to.
Was planning to do a post on how I'm doing it, as it seems to hold the problem at bay. Leaving it and you can watch it spread almost daily.

Took the seized fan motor off and opened up to have a shifty to see if I could find the reason for it seizing.

Point for all to note are 2 little v notches that let water into the internals. If you can smear some sealant around the top rim.

Once opened, the reason for the seizure was the laminated stator was starting to delaminate and a piece was jamming the rotor.

The magnets had also become unglued but their magic was holding them to the fan shell.

The bearings aren't brilliant but I will attempt a rebuild whilst I source a replacement.

Well it's back together and running nicely on the bench. Guaranteed till Christmas 2021- cant be bad . Re-install to be carried out.

I had to rebuild one of my fan motors too, the right one which was directly under the otter switch that had been leaking, dripping on the fan motor. Like yours, mine had rust inside tho my rotor appeared to be fully intact and the magnets still glued in place. That bearing is a NSK 6200ZZ Single Row, Double Shielded, 10mm Bore, 30mm OD, 9mm Width. I ordered one off Amazon. Its held into the front plate from the inside with a staked retainer. I ground off the little stakes with a Dremel rotary tool, pushed the old bearing out, pushed the new bearing in and resecured the retainer with four tiny tack welds around its perimeter.

Purge pump remounted after nearly 10 years being off. Just got some M6 vibration mounts off fleabay. Had to saw the old bits off but otherwise easy
