I have got the new hose through into the boot from outside, but I cannot physically see the stub on the filler neck that it connects to-I can only just feel it!
There isn't a clip on it anywhere, just about an inch of the old hose. Question-can I just pull this off or am I likely to break anything?

Cheers.
You should be able to pull off a piece of rubber hose that is connected to a ball valve and then the new hose fixes to that.

Anyone have a photo of the pipe popping through the bumper? (There's no hole in my bumper, and I will probably have to drill one)

I have two holes in the very center of my bumper, I think the tube was connected to one of these. It appears that the one on the left could accommodate the hose terminus and have a finished look, the other larger hole would just have the hose pulled through and hang down.
I just replaced my breather hose today and re-rerouted the entire tube with a black hose running on the non-battery side, down by the jack stowage area, under the left side light cluster cover and into the big hole in the fiberglass and slid it down to the bottom of the bumper. It was almost too easy!!! Once the hose came through the bumper and was secured at teh check valve up top, I finished it off by attaching the black wire/hose clamp you see that is held on by a screw. That screw was there already, I think from the shop that repainted the car - they didn't use rivets to re-secure the bumper. Then I cut the hose to a reasonable length.

Mine also has the two holes as above, and the hose comes down to the finisher in the centre.
It used to just poke through the hole on the right, but this was sorted some years ago when the bumper was off during a repaint.

Are those dampers/springs the adjusteable AVOs Alan? They look nice and tidy under there, can't wait to get mine put on. The rust coils on my four corners are tired under braking - the car lurches up in the rear, then settles back down.

AVO coil overs now fitted front and rear by Lotusbits, along with the big brake upgrade and upgraded pads at the rear.

I like the finisher on Alan's picture. Looks a lot neater. Will see if I can find something to do the same.

Thanks for the photos gents. Having taken the bumper off, I can confirm that there was no hole for the fuel vent. I have drilled one centrally, away from the exhaust pipes, as these obviously get hot and have degraded the plastic bumper material somewhat adjacent to them. A new pipe is routed from the valve (where the skin off my knuckles can still be found), and it should be easy to clean the light covers etc and get it all put back tomorrow using black nylon number plate bolts (as my car is black) instead of the rivets which were already drilled out

Are the heat shields missing?

I had to fit them to Mine as the exhaust had melted the bumper. There was no heat shield at that point.

I don't have heat shields, but now that I have seen your photo of them, this is something I will consider adding soon, =0)

So I didn't particularly like the tube being so visible from the rear, so, I rerouted it through one of the holes in the spare tire area. The center one looked to go to nowhere, but there was some space to slide it through under the support for the Rear suspension arms. No heat, no moving parts, not even likely to get wet FWIW. So it's tucked away in there now and the bumper didn't need to come off. Requires much less hose too!!! Think of the weight savings!
