As I discovered yesterday when my V5 arrived, my 89MY is also registered as an Éclat.

My 1990 SE is shown as an Éclat Excel on the V5, so is included in the figures.

Even 30 years later, CABC has succeeded in confounding all of us. The Type Approval folk at the time didn't stand a chance!

Mine Excel first registered in Jan 1992 as an Éclat, which strictly speaking seems to be correct.

I noticed HowManyLeft.co.uk can list the Eclats by date of manufacture. It shouldn't be hard to number crunch the Excels from the Eclats (1984 onwards = Excel?).

If your Excel is registerd as an Eclat you can ask the DVLA to re-register it as an Eclat Excel (which is what I did some years ago).

Well there should be one less listed on there from Nov 2015, but only because it is now in the US, and enjoying life over on this side of the pond.

it looks like there are about 400 excels on the dvla's books registered as eclat excels and about 119 registered between 1983 and 1990 as eclats so just over 500 in all. 2100 have died or gone to better climes, i suspect that there are not very many living happily overseas. i suppose an apparent survival of 20% overall and at best >10 % on the road is not too bad. how many of the sorned cars will see the light of day again.

Indeed ! How many will be left too long to recover when time finally becomes available to their owners. On a plus side, I pulled over last week to check out a hedge bound Eclat with a rather saggy back end with a youngster in attendance (under 30). Unbelievably, I was only able to just manage a 30 seconds assessment before the recovery trailer arrived to take it off to refurbishment. I'll report if I see it again :)

LAH520P last taxed in December 1991 aiming for MOT and tax by 1st of May. France on the 17th of May so not much shake down time.
The Lotus Eclat, a lot like the English Whisky company: comes from Norfolk and better than you are often told it is.

My car was SORNed for twelve years up until this January, so that's one more that's jumped into the taxed column!
