Possible scam. Be very careful. Check with Lotus before parting with cash.

Looks genuine. Sellers name is lotuscarsltd and all other items for sale were from the last factory parts sale when Lotus set up their eBay shop.

Hi,
Does anyone know if these are the cast iron or Nicasil liners? If they are Nicasil, can these Pistons be run in a cast iron liner such as fitted to the earlier 2.2 engines?
Any advice very much appreciated.

Regards, Pondy

If they are HC items, they should be nikasil coated, unless Lotus have changed them in the wake of the problems (other Marques only AKAIK) that have occurred in the past.
The pistons and liners are dimensionally matched, so you would need to find cast iron liners that match the pistons. Also earlier engines are LC, so the pistons are different in the crown area. You may find other differences, such as different piston rings for the two types of liner.
It would probably be much easier to find a set of the correct pistons and liners.

And it's not a scam. I know the person who helped set the account up for the lady at Potash Lane. I shall not post her name just in case some little scum bag decides to look in here and uses it to try and set up a scam.

Its not impossible - HC pistons in a LC engine being discussed on The esprit forum - http://www.lotusespritforum.com/forums/ - you'll need to register. Its in the Giugiaro technical section under 'HC internals, HC head', and how I found out about the cheap piston sets being sold by Lotus.

Gents, I think the question was 'Can HC pistons be used in LC liners?' , not 'Can a LC block be made to accept HC liners?'.

PS As usual, a very impressive post from Tim Engel, quoted on the LEF thread mentioned above.

That's good news then. :)
I may even buy a set myself at that price.
Has anyone checked that part No is the same as for the Excel SE?

Well it's certainly a bargain price, and direct from the mother ship also. I'm sorely tempted...... I was defintely staying stock engined then I'd buy at least one set!
