Locust?:?

If it's an Excel, then running at 80-82C (when travelling) is normal.

90C and above when travelling = problems and these sort of temps would normally only occur in traffic on a hot day or when stationary - then the otter swch should kick-in, fans should stay on until about 80/83c is restored.

Lets hope your previous overheating episodes haven't caused any damage...I would at least change the oil - especially if you are using cheap oils that break down easily at high temps - which I would not recommend for a 912 with Nicosil liners - you should use Mobil 1 50/15, Castrol RS 60/10 (less oil consumption with this one) or a Millers fully synthetic for example - but there are others. And in any case , you should be changing the oil regularly, especially so, if you can only afford the cheap stuff.

Fingers crossed, all will be well

the otter swithch you have installed is probably a lower actuating one probably from a simatar...

or your gauge is reading low... the only way to check that is with a heat gun, if this is the case you may be able to alter the reading from it wen you turn the lights or heater on (something that draws alot of current...)

Sorry old chap.

BTW, 80C is about right, and should be achieved quite quickly on the move, not just on a long run. It's the thermostat setting and cooling system capaciity / condition that determines the normal running temp. Cars in this country should have an 82C thermostat or there abouts. And the otter setting will not affect normal running when travelling.

It might be that now your spoiler is fixed....and your otter isn't leaking...., temperature control is better because the integrity of the cowling design for the rad is critical and the spoiler assembly is integral with the cowling.

Sounds like you have nothing to worry about.
