No, not axle differential parking charges, but parking charges applied differentially by councils to petrol, diesel, ev's etc based on vehicle emissions, weight and length.
The vehicle ID is established from the number plate.
Apparently, Bath and North Somerset councils are already using the system, with Bristol intending to follow soon.
The question is, how do classics, especially the historic tax class fare under this system. And as pre-2001 vehicles don't have their emissions on record, the Excel could get hammered charge-wise. And my tiny one litre Clan is definitely car park friendly being short, narrow, light weight and frugal on petrol. The major car parking hazard is mine, with SUVs likely to reverse up the nose and over the Clan!
Has anyone on here from the Bath, Somerset area parked their Excel under these new charging regimes? Is vehicle ID ANPR based, or do you enter your reg manually? Btw, my Clan has black and silver plates not recognised by at least some ANPR cameras in shopping car parks at least.
Views or insights anyone?
