Has anyone managed to resurrect their Excel air con system? Mine hasn't worked since I got the car, a 1985 build Excel SE, over 10 years ago. No idea when it last worked.
After my door lock saga recently and a sweltering journey home I thought it would be nice to have working air con and doors that allow entry and exit.
Is a full rebuild of the air con an engine out job? No doubt a lot of the system will be buried behind other stuff. Any advice or thoughts gratefully received.

Re: Air con
Currently rebuilding mine at the moment.
Engine can stay in. My engine is out though and nose cone with rad and condenser.
Also. see Bash's thread on a retrofit system

Re: Air con
Thanks, thats good news. I plan to do the clutch soon and will tackle the power steering while the engine is out, but was hoping I could get at air con bits at a later date without having to take the engine out again.
Thanks for the note about Bash's air con retro fit, I'll check that out.

Re: Air con
I would at least swap the condenser whilst the engine is out as that will make it much easier.

Re: Air con
Good idea, would be a lot easier to do some of this job with engine out. First task will be figuring out what system I've got, as the car is an 86 model year SE but built in 85.
