Lotus' Venue for Publicity photo's

Post by MetBlue »

I was under the impression that Ketteringham Hall was used for most of the publicity shots for many Lotus cars, not just the wedges.
On the Saturday afternoon of the recent Winterbottom Weekend, Alan, Clare and I went along for a coffee and it most definitely isn't the location for most of the Elite / Excel photo's.
Later came across these two pictures in the Bird in Hand :

The Esprit is Ketteringham hall, but anyone know where the Excel is photographed?

I reckon they used Knebworth House for the 1974 Elite brochure.

Hi. I think the location for the Excel is Burghley Hall in Lincolnshire. I only know this because it is my car and I have another publicity photo showing what looks like this house in the background.

Maybe someone else could confirm?

Whilst looking for stuff I came across the Coterie press archives where there are thousands of images for sale, trigger warning, I spent ages looking through thro the archive and forgot what I was actually looking for. Excel shot not there though. Enjoy.

I'd guess that was taken in France - the concrete telegraph pole, TOTAL sign, window shutters. If so they've parked on the wrong side of the road!

Sounds good, the pole is a giveaway.
