Arrived at Rowsley yesterday (LITP) amongst a mass of modern.
All the modern being directed into the field when I hear the marshal shout across to her colleague "Special one?".
"Yes" comes back the answer and I'm routed to the top area.
How ironic when it value is less than a halve of virtually every other car there - and a 10th of many.
What a bargain
Tony
A special one.

Nice one
In some ways it would be nice if they were valued as to how good they are, but I may not now have one if they were.

Re: A special one.
The Excel (and Elite) is truly a special car, better than an original Esprit!
With a front engine we get a sizeable boot, room for ocasional rear passengers, no noise a foot behind drivers ears, and an easy cam belt change.
Our wedge bonnet accomodates perfectly our slanted engine, why slant an Esprit engine and put it in the boot?
And crash protection?
Not much wrong with the Excel handling, OK an Esprit might be a thrill on track day, I don´t live close to a track.
I ask the readers on this Forum to seriously consider whether the Excel is the Lotus SPECIAL ONE, your opinions please.
Dave the cog.

I had a NA esprit in my rear mirror round Olivers Mount and he couldn't catch me. I'll keep the Excel (Auto too - in manual mode )DavidOliver wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 14:00.....

I think it was only when the Esprit engine was charge cooled that it went faster around the lotus track, so when a lot of extra power over came better handling of the excel

Re: A special one.
No chance of that Trevor.
I did initially need to check Morinio hadn't snuck in the back door.
Then I remembered I didn't have back doors . Phew.
