Again, How to post Photographs

Post by DavidOliver »

Once again I am stumped trying to post photographs.
The previously received instructions from members no longer work.
Is this due to so-called improvements from updates. I no longer see the word Embed and even following
Google How to descriptions it simply does not work, for me at least.
Please help. I am on Windows 10 and try to download from Cloud.

Dave, are you using OneDrive? If so Embed is now in the menu displayed when you click on ... in the area where the Embed option used to appear.

Hi Dave,

I think you were very close to getting it right, you may have deleted or pasted over the first part of the command that comes up when you click on the tab to embed the picture.

I copy the photo link, then click on the picture embedding icon and use ctrl+v to paste the copied link as the cursor is in the right place to paste the link. Hope that makes sense....

Neil.

Lads, thanks for the tips.
Following the Alan video and going to photographs held in Onedrive, the photograph shows no prompts or Icons for embedding, not even the ...

I will keep trying but it is very frustrating. I have tried all options of the twenty or so that come up, none refer to embedding.
I get stuck when I call up the photograph from Onedrive, the photograph appears but no embed prompts.

The Portuguese Grand Prix today may calm me down a bit.

Dave, I haven’t watched Alan’s video recently but I do remember that I had a problem with onedrive early on. You shouldn’t use the OneDrive application that runs on your pc. You need to run OneDrive as a web app - so you go to your browser then search for and log in to OneDrive.

The reason for this is that the pictures need to be in the onedrive cloud to be accessible to embed into posts on the forums. If they only exist on your pc then they cannot be accessed by web applications.

Enjoy the Grand Prix! I’m glad it’s being held in Portugal again. Seems like a very interesting season this year.

Cheers, Richard

I’ve just been onto Onedrive and the Embed option is there as shown in the video. I suspect you are doing as Richard suggests. To embed from Onedrive you must be viewing your uploaded photos via a web browser. I suspect you are either looking at the Onedrive folder on your PC or viewing your cloud folder via the Onedrive app.

Thanks Alan and Richard.
I have now posted a photograph having gone direct to Onedrive before inserting (embedding).
As it happens, easy when you know how, even though the embed prompt comes up in Spanish on my PC, called Insertar.

Thanks for the update. have been trying to set up one drive and transfer from google pics , but then again I'm usually too engrossed in what I am doing to stop and take a photo. Must try harder.

I've been using "dropbox" as a drive on my main computer for posting photo's. then the right click "Share" option (not "share with").
A little long winded but as long as you remember to change the end of the string to raw=1, seems to work fine for me.
On this one, I'll be sticking to the motto " if it ain't broke, don't fix it"....for now at least
