Would someone close to Abingdon find the author of the description text and put him/her right about an 1989 Excel (not Eclat).
Headlights do not fail from rising, bodywork does not crack, and some strange comments about wheel size and tyre condition.

Perhaps who goes should take one of the breaker bars shown in one of today´s posting.

So, unless it didn't actually sell and was bid on to prevent the sale (shill bidding), it went for £7500 from TheMarket on 17th November 2020
https://themarket.co.uk/listings/lotus/ ... f9fdf43796
And now has a for-sale price of £12,995.

Wow, apparently our cars have seatbelt pre-tensioners, and there was me thinking that was never present on the Excel, being just a hefty piece of steel cable attached to the clip and the bolt anchor.

How the heck do they justify that profit margin? Even if they were to charge VAT on the whole of the car value (why would any dealer do that in preference to the 1.6 of margin method?) that would still be a £10,800 car, for what looks like little more done to it. Under the margin scheme that would be a £12k car.
OK there's now the used car regs which mean they are responsible for failures in a certain period, they have to make money to cover that possibility that some of the cars they sell end up costing them money to fix. they've had to transport it, clean it (it looked clean already).

I sold this car in November on The Market - it did sell in November (reluctantly, the car is good) for £7500. So I was rather surprised by the price it is now listed at.

Dont knock it lads, if he gets close to what he wants its good, provided its been sorted for the new owner. Been undervalued for far too long. Im also sure that there are a few of us on here who have spent that much over the years, and more.
