O-Rings Steering Rack

Post by lotushiast »

Hello,

does some one have the dimension of the two O-Rings of the high and low pressure hoses that are connected to the steering rack.
Steering rack is those with the variable ratio for a 1988 Excel.
Thanks Harald.

Hi Harald

They will be Ford Taurus early 1980 vintage if you check with a local dealer

As the O-rings are cheap I suggest you buy at least six and different thicknesses. You don´t need Ford specific O-rings.
When you fit the hoses to the rack the flat plate that the single bolt holds the hoses in place can be
short of holding the hoses in place. If you put an extra (or two) O-ring in front of the ridge on the hose coupling
you get a firmer load to hold the hoses in place.

Genuine Ford part numbers for the o rings are E854082 and E854085. I bought some off the shelf from my local Ford dealer back in 2007
