well the pressure depends on temperature ( I have an oil temp guage instead of a cock)
Seems a bit drastic!
What car is that?

well the pressure depends on temperature ( I have an oil temp guage instead of a cock) and oil type:

Valvoline VR1 5w/50 synthetic when new

  • oil temp C ....... 1000 rpm ................. 3000 rpm

    Cold <15 ................ 6+ bar ......................... 7 bar
    warm 50 ................. 3.5 - 4 bar .................. 4.5- 5 bar
    v. hot 95 ................. 1.5 -2 bar ................... 4 bar
Can confirm these figures are very comparable to what I see on the gauge. Engine rebuilt approx 10,000 miles ago, so should be just about run in nicely.

Car is a MY91 SE.

By the way do mention what year and car the values are from. So I can se if there is an trend for the values per car. I looking at an Esprit 3 and as mentiined my values ar from an 83 Excel with newer engine.

I think that's taking your love of gauges a bit to far Peter :)

Sorry to bring the conversation down to my level

Well he is not wrong, oil temp is important and well on a hobby car a clock is annoying as it is always wrong as one often discinnects the battery.

Went out for a B road blast on near empty roads in the Clan today - so small, but so lithe - felt like I was 'Clock of the North! :D

There's an Esprit currently for sale here in SA as well - has no drive train like my Excel, but at 4 times the price. I don't need that project!

Nice pair of cars!

Neil.

Hmmmmm...
I only payed twice the price for the esprit compared to the excel. So either the excel was to expencive or the esprit to cheap or both.
