The bodywork appears less damaged than the one recently for sale on eBay. The oil pressure did look a little worrying though.

Peter,
I saw the video. But what happened to put it there, and when? That sure looks fixable to me. It' a different time. Things used to get fixed. Now they get replaced.

Tam,
Are you OK? What's your next Lotus move?

Best wishes,
Tim Engel

Part of the challenge with these types of damage is that an insurer-approved repairer will determine that genuine parts are no longer available new, and although some insurers are OK with used parts it's not always the case. So, how do you graft on a new corner when ones not available? The other option is a repair but with FG the energy spreads (that's the beauty of FG) and so damage can be along a section not just at the very tip where it was hit, that makes it difficult for the repairer to say with certainty that it's done to a similar strength as was.

I've known some to refuse pattern parts, probably through bad experiences of pattern steel panels (some of those are horrendous).
SJ do the front, but I don't know if they even do the rear.

I once had a bit of an oops with a '71 Europa S2, and messed up the left-front corner forward of the wheel well. I gathered up all the bits off the street and put them in a bag in the rear boot. When I got to the body shop, I was expecting a little 'push-back' because of the fiberglass body. But the guy came out, looked it over quickly, and asked, "do you have the pieces?". I said yes, and showed him the bag.

He said, "Good. The nice thing about fiberglass is that as long as you have all the pieces, you can put them all back together again". Which he did, very nicely.

The problem is that in today's world, people replace things, they don't fix them. It doesn't matter what that 'thing' is. Skilled trades are dwindling, and it's hard to find true 'fixers'.

Regards,
Tim Engel
