clutch master cylinder post part two

Post by shaunw »

When replacing the clutch master cylinder two plastic washers fell out when I removed the crevis pin. I think they came from in between the master cylinder actuating rod bracket and the pedal box bracket (can't think of a clearer way of explaining it). I presume they were there to limit side ways movement.

Try as I might I couldn't line these and the crevis pin up and gave up in the end. It doesn't seem to have made any difference leaving them out as on pressing the pedal there isnt any sideways movement anyway.

Has anyone managed to do this job and get them back in? (Cue sixty five posts all saying 'yes whats the problem') I have kept them just in case

Shaun

You need the Lotus special tool known as a "Fitz"
With this, all jobs involving reaching up into the footwell are easy, including clutch cylinders and bonnet cables unreachable by the average person. The "Fitz" comes equipped with small hands and an encylopedia of knowledge about the position of every nut and bolt on the Excel.
Im planning on borrowing the "Fitz" shortly as my new choke cable is here, and i cannot get my fat hands anywhere near it to fit the clip at the back.

It wouldn't be a massive parcel unlike the palletised delivery I'd have to arrive on.

A mid sized, well padded jiffy bag would probably suffice.
