Excel SE

Post by OB1 »

Hello All,

I am looking to get back into Excel ownership having sold my first one 24 years ago. Last one was dark green (not sure if it was BRG), 86 SE. Reg was C958 EKM. Long since gone I think.

Ideally after another similar car with air con etc in good condition, would look at a Celebration but not sure of the pricing for those, they seem to vary a lot.

I live in Suffolk but happy to travel.

Quite a few have come up at auction recently and I have been following all the comments with interest.

Happy to bide my time and get the right one, have waited 24 years so no panic.

Many thanks if you can help

Best Ollie

If you check the Lotus Excel Facebook group, there's a blue '95 SE for sale by Richard Thoroughgood. He's asking £10k, looks pretty good condition, including recent engine rebuild.

I hope you find the right car for you, and look forward to hearing how you get on!

N.B. I just saw the Price Guide in the April Practical Classics magazine. Don't believe those values, any cars for sale are being asked for about double what the guide suggests. Even allowing for haggling, you'll never get a car at those prices!

Thanks Richard, that looks a lovely car, nice colour too. Good history and same family for 20 years.

Be good to run MOT advisories / histories. I like the red camcovers personally, but hey ho we cant get everything we want.

Any other thoughts very welcome, appreciate your help.

Best

Ollie
