Re: Downpipe and Carb repair kit
Hi Nick,
Both my carbs are off the car for a strip down, clean and service. You can get the service kits from SJSportsCars or directly from Dellorto.co.uk. The kit will do both carbs, if that is what you are after.
The link below is for a 2-carb kit, but they also do budget kits for 1 and 2 carbs.

Pretty sure I've got a surplus carb rebuild kit that could come your way... let me check when I get a chance...

Re: Downpipe and Carb repair kit
Ensure you keep everything impeccably clean when you re-assemble your carbs. After I rebuilt my engine, at first it ran like utter sh!t. I was really upset, after all that work and money, and just threw it at Lotusbits to sort out. Their first check was to swap in some other carbs, and it ran fine. Turned out some grit had got into the carbs when I re-assembled them. Don't let this happen to you!

Re: Downpipe and Carb repair kit
An important part of carb refurbishing is to renew the o rings on the spacer between carb and manifold, including the rubber grommets which maintain
the pressure on the o rings. Also note that the spacers are orientation sensitive.
These parts are not part of the refurb kit.

And use Hylomar AF on the O rings for extra protection from leaks.DavidOliver wrote: ↑Wed Sep 08, 2021 12:37An important part of carb refurbishing is to renew the o rings on the spacer between carb and manifold, including the rubber grommets which maintain

You need to get a manual and study it, its a learning process that will pay dividends long term.

Re: Downpipe and Carb repair kit
Hopefully you've paid for the access to the parts list (if not, do it now!). If you do, go to the inlet manifold page, and it is the parts no. 10 - one O-ring either side of the spacer.

Re: Downpipe and Carb repair kit
This is a very good book and has everything in it you need to know to rebuild /service your carbs.

Not cheap but is worth the money.

So if i am right i only need x8 of the o rings and if i am correct its O RING for DELLORTO CARBURETTOR MOUNTING SJ907E0040 on the SJ website for £0.26 each. Do i need to get new spacers also?

Re: Downpipe and Carb repair kit
Sounds about right, yes. Ordering that stuff from SJs always hurts because the delivery cost is so much more than the parts!
No, you shouldn't need to replace the spacers themselves - they are aluminium, so it's extraordinarily unlikely there's anything wrong with them.

Re: Downpipe and Carb repair kit
But I would suggest replacing the damping rubber blocks. These tend to compress and become harder over time. Eg - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Weber-40-45- ... 635-2958-0

Re: Downpipe and Carb repair kit
I can only support bash on his recomendation of the book How to build and Power Tune Weber and Dellorto carbs by Des Hammil.
When fitting the carbs to the manifold it is very important to follow the Des Hammil description for tightening the spacers down, not tight, as flexibility is required to avoid frothing the fuel from vibration. You will also need new nylock nuts precisely as they are not fully tightened on assenbly.
